The History of The Venue

House of Sgra is held within Southernwood Castle Studios, part of The Rocks, a grade II listed estate a short distance from Bath.

What began as a modest house within a wider agricultural estate was extended through the late 18th and mid 19th centuries into a private retreat, its grounds hiding an 18th century dovecot, towers, gateways, ponds and grottoes within the woodland.

Solitude here has always mattered more than scale. When the estate's quiet was disrupted in the mid 20th century, much of the original house was lost. From the 1980s onwards, a careful restoration began, and the estate has since been reimagined as a self-sustaining collective of studio invested in its landscape as much as its buildings. It is this same spirit, of a place returned to slowly and with care, that House of Sgra now continues within its walls.

At House Of Sgra we invite you to be your true authentic self and allow yourself to truly relax. Healing can be found in many forms and entering oneself in sound bath can be transformative.
